Prior to joining Chambers, Sophie attended Ysgol Tregib in Llandeilo and went on to study at the University of Exeter where she graduated with an LLB (Hons) degree in Law. From there she completed the BPTC at Manchester Metropolitan University where she obtained the grade of Very Competent and finished top of her year in Family Law and Advocacy.
Sophie was called to the bar in October 2015 and with the assistance of the Marshall Hall Trust Scholarship Award successfully completed her pupillage in October 2016. Since becoming a tenant at Chambers, Sophie has continued to expand her practice in all areas of law.
Sophie is regularly instructed to prosecute and defend cases in the Magistrates and Crown Court. Sophie has had experience prosecuting and defending a wide range of matters including offences of violence, sexual offences, drugs offences and the spectrum of driving offences.
Sophie is currently undertaking work with the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) advising on all aspects of criminal and public law. She primarily deals with complaints against the police and cases involving death or serious injuries that are subject to investigation by the Commission.
In this capacity she has also represented Defendants at Judicial Review Hearings and provides both written and oral advice in this regard.
Sophie undertakes work on behalf of Claimants and Respondents in all areas of civil law, including housing, contractual, road traffic and personal injury both through written and court work. She appears at the County Court at all levels, up to and including the Multi-Track.
