Following the successful completion of her pupillage in 2016 , Sophie has developed and maintained a busy Criminal, Family and Civil practice.

Crime

Sophie has built a strong criminal practice and regularly acts on behalf of the defence and prosecution in both the Magistrates Court and the Crown Court across South and West Wales.

She appears on behalf of local defence solicitors, the Crown Prosecution Service and the National Probation Service. She is listed on the CPS Advocate Panel 2016-20 list for general crime at Level 3.

Sophie has experience in a wide range of criminal cases, including, serious assaults, possession with intent to supply the spectrum of drug offences, sexual offences (including possession of indecent images of children), dishonesty offences (including burglary, attempted robbery and shoplifting) and driving offences.

Sophie accepts instructions from local authorities in all regulatory matters and has previously acted in licensing and abatement matters.

To assist her practise, Sophie undertook a secondment with the Independent Office for Police Conduct, where she advised in a range of matters including direct complaints against the police and cases involving death or serious injuries with police involvement.

Sophie is able to provide strong and clear advice in respect of all instructed cases and can provide persuasive and effective advocacy before the court.

Family

Sophie has developed a practice in private law children matters and has acted on behalf of applicants, respondents and guardians in a broad range of matters. Sophie has experience in dealing with cases concerning child arrangements orders, prohibited steps orders, cases where there are allegations of domestic violence and accusations of drug use.

Personal Injury

Sophie undertakes a wide range of personal injury work for both Claimants and Defendants. Sophie is happy to undertake work on a Conditional Fee Agreement basis.

Employment

Sophie is willing to accept instructions in all areas of employment law including unfair dismissal, discrimination, TUPE transfers, breach of contract and wrongful dismissal. She is happy to provide written opinions and to accept instructions for drafting pleadings in addition to providing representation at tribunal.
