Gareth Waite successfully represents nurse at 14-day Fitness to Practice Hearing
Following a 14-day hearing which took place in April, May and October 2025, Gareth successfully represented a nurse who faced thirteen charges of misconduct at a Fitness to Practice Hearing before the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).
The nurse was supported throughout the proceedings by Gareth, who was instructed by the Royal College of Nursing.
At the close of the NMC’s case, Gareth successfully argued that there was no case to answer for three of the charges. The panel agreed, dismissing those allegations. Subsequently, two further charges were found not proved.
After considering the remaining charges, the panel determined that there was no impairment to the nurse’s fitness to practice. As a result, no sanctions were imposed, and the nurse is able to continue her professional duties without restriction.
This outcome has been welcomed by the nurse and her representatives, highlighting the importance of robust legal advocacy in regulatory proceedings.
