Born and raised in Swansea, Thomas originally attended Gowerton Comprehensive School but was later awarded a 100 percent academic scholarship to attend the prestigious Queen Ethelburga’s Boarding College in Yorkshire where he completed his school education.
Thomas later returned to his native Wales to read Law at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
Upon completion of his Law degree Thomas was awarded the “Uthwatt Award” Academic Scholarship by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn which enabled him to complete his Bar examinations at the University of Wales, Cardiff. Thomas was called to the Bar in July 2008.
Thomas undertook his Pupillage at Chambers and upon successful completion became a tenant in October 2010.
Since becoming a tenant, Thomas has developed an established practice in Crime and Civil practicing across the entire Welsh Circuit.
Thomas is regularly instructed by both defence Solicitors and the Crown Prosecution Service to act in cases concerning offences across the criminal spectrum including, but not limited to, serious violent offences, sexual offences, drug offences, robbery, burglary and death by dangerous driving. He has also prosecuted on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Complex Casework Unit. He is a category 4 prosecutor.
Thomas acts for several Local Authorities in prosecuting Regulatory Law offences such as Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Food Safety. In undertaking this work Thomas provides detailed advice to Local Authorities about case investigations, case preparation, as well as case management and presentation.
Thomas also acts in Confiscation hearings and hearings under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
As well as his work in Crime, Thomas also has a busy practice in Civil Law representing both Claimants and Respondents by means of written work and at trial. Thomas is instructed in contractual, licensing, housing, personal injury and road traffic disputes.
